Women who Lead
" to build inclusive prosperity "
“ The UK-South Africa Tech Hub forms part of the InternationalTech Hub network delivered by DCMS (Department for Digital, Culture, Media& Sport), under the Digital Access Programme – a UK government initiative designed to build inclusive prosperity through capitalising on digital services and opportunities in partner countries. ”
International Tech Hubs are expert teams which work to stimulate local digital economies, build high-end digital skills, and forge innovation partnerships between local tech sectors and international businesses. Through the Hubs’ activities, entrepreneurs and founders, acquire the skills, resource and support needed to turbocharge their entrepreneurial journey. One such hub is Ladies who Launch.
Brief
As a fairly new initiative I was requested to:
1. Design a logo for Ladies who Lead
2. Design an invitation template for their round table discussion with HRH the Duchess of Sussex (allow template to be re-usable)
3. Design an AV background banner
4. Design pull-up banners for the event.
Considerations.
Though obvious, it was important that the image representation on the design needed to be inclusive and a true the diversity of the South African climate.
I also tried to stay away from stereotypically feminine fonts and colours and focused more on trying to redefine the image of innovation and women. Longevity through a timeless font and or design would be the goal.
I took their slogan “Conversations that connect” as a potential marketing tool that did not always need the support of a lead logo. The idea would be that they could use the design of the slogan directly for other promotional items like stickers and shirts.

Takeout
The client is based in Cape Town and I am in Johannesburg. In addition to the designs the client also requested that I manage the printing of the pull-up banners that would need to be delivered to their offices by a set date. The communication between myself and the project manager was fluid despite it being (for the most part) mostly on email with an occasional call here and there.
I am proud to say that I not only delivered on time for all the tasks, but, I also was able to enter into a relationship with Hub that has since developed into great on-going relationship
